@leuts.eth, selling coffee at DEVcons is not very appealing to us, no offense to anyone, but the margins on coffee beans are relatively thin. I'd rather focus on increasing production of drip bags or coffee pods on a larger scale, where things can get more interesting for everyone, and of course, happy to share profits with the DAO.
As an idea, on a smaller scale, we could set up a site to sell Grounds merch as print-on-demand items, where we can include co-branded coffee items and handle payments. We could set a % of the price that will come back to the DAO and we can manage coffee fulfillment and centralize all items sold in one place.
Man, I love this, I'm sorry I was too slow to vote in favour of this. I was offline for a bit.
As is I would vote in favour.
Of course awesome to link into DevCon but since thats quite far out I think something sooner also sounds great.
Always nice to close the loop, so a soft commitment to take some of the profits to refund the budget. Maybe something like 50% of profits, capped to the budget request amount would be nice.
Glad you are in favour, yeah Devcon sound good but the idea is to start something small with what we have and spreading the Grounds name among regualr coffee users. I think there is a potential to grow and the goal of this proposal was a small one to test how things could evolve, that is why there was a small ammount proposed to test the waters. Happy to resubmitt the proposal if you guys thing there is be quorum :)
At face value, I really like the sound of this initiative. Thanks for posting!
As Leuts mentioned, some version of this around or as part of Devcon would be super cool. But I'd also be down to use this proposal as an opportunity to test the idea. A few of the others in the Grounds telegram group have been thinking about similar ideas in other regions.
There's two critical questions for me:
What does your demographic look like and how likely do we think they are to ultimately engage with GroundsDAO as a result if this project?
Is there potential for this to drive some revenues back to the DAO, along with the implied exposure to a new batch of coffee lovers?
Great question, the demographics are mainly expats in Thailand. We do had the option to pay with crypto and we had some order with crypto but not that many. One of the things I should have mentioned, is that we received a grant from ICP/DFinity to develop the web3 side of it, basically a memebership platform to access online barista coures but still under development, the idea is to onboard our existing clientel to web3.
Interesting, I will look into DEVCon Thailand. We have some coffee drip bags that would be perfect to hand out during conference to attnedes. We are also working on the FDA approval to sell outside Thailand but that will take a while. Any other ideas on how to approach the crypto markets with our current project? Open for suggestions.
So for IRL events, i was thinik that we could do some drop bags branded as GROUNDs. And give it away to peopel at the conference, specially since a lot of hotels (at least in asia) still have those crappy instant coffee bags. We could definitly elevate the coffee experince for crypto travelers. I will think about it
